Inflation and Reinforced Concrete Materials: An Investigation of Economic and Environmental Effects

Focusing on Reinforced Concrete (RC), the main building material worldwide, inflation and CO2 emissions negatively impact economic environmental sustainability of construction industry environment, respectively. Therefore, it is important to investigate correlations effects RC in view inflation–CO2 nexus. Previous literature did not sufficiently scrutinize this issue, leaving behind huge knowledge gaps for understanding (1) inflation–RC prices nexus, (2) cost relationship, (3) correlation. The body, additionally, suffers from controversial conclusion prior that countering reduces prices; however, does reduce their associated emissions. To address these loopholes, Spearman correlation test was employed analyze data Egypt’s market inflation, prices, cost, 2011 2019. yielded are directly correlated with inflation. In addition, steel reinforcement more sensitive than other materials. By analyzing outputs, using Deviation Percentage approach, has been found 1% increase drives up by 1.568% 1.548%, Further, increasing increases emissions, particularly 15.968%. This implies inflation–construction nexus a direct correlation, an inverse as mentioned archival literature. These results guide contractors define accurate percentage-based risk margin against overrunning projects budgets.
